Bob,

In 2005, I took photos at the Palazzo Massimo and Palazzo Altemps, without restrictions except that tripods and flash were not permitted. By the way, I accidentally took one photo using the on-camera flash, and the results were not good. Maybe permission to photograph is more common in museums containing sculptures rather than paintings. I did have to be mindful not to back into sculptures when positioning myself to photograph other sculptures.

Hi Ralph,
Great photos of Rome, where I am going in less than two weeks. I take it that you are allowed to take photos in the Museo Nazionale Romano sites--specifically the Palazzo Massimo and Altemps? Bob C.

Peter,
I don't know much about the angles, but I can say what I would attempt to do next time. I wish that I had gotten to the Capitoline museums and to Florence. I liked the Appian Way, and wish that I had taken a better photo encompassing both the paving stones and the more distant perspective, perhaps from 1/2 meter above the road. I wish that I had been better able to convey the serene feeling that I got from the pines, which are unusual in shape, like flat green clouds on sticks. I liked the Museo Nazionale Romano at Palazzo Altemps. If lights are turned in fountains at dusk, you will have additional time to photograph. With that in mind, a small tripod can be handy.
There are interesting things that are not first-rank tourist attractions. There is something to be said for having a relaxed time, not scheduling too many activities per day. I found the Rick Steves guide to Rome to be user-friendly. Have fun

G'day Ralph,
Thanks for showing me your photros on Rome.
I'm heading off there tomorrow, and I'm looking for ideas on angles for "the sites"
Cheers,

Hi Ralph, I'm responding to your question regarding my "bugs eye view" photo. You wanted to know whether I had the photo with more resolution. Yes, I do.
